Half term is upon us! In need of some fun workshops to keep little minds busy and inspired ?Submersibles, chocolate, masterpieces and so much more!


Boaty McBoatface at the National Maritime Museum


Don't miss this EXCITING chance to see the UK's newest polar research ship as it powers into London this October. The RRS Sir David Attenborough is making a special visit to Greenwich as part of the Festival of Polar Science. Meet real polar scientists and explorers and discover how robots can help unravel the mysteries of the ocean – including the famous Boaty McBoatface submersible. Chocolate at the Chelsea Physic Garden



Calling all chocolate fans. Through craft activities, a Garden tour and most importantly chocolate tasting learn all about the history, geography and science of yummy chocolate. One of our very favourite workshops. Pack a lunch or grab something from the Garden Café. Chocolate Thursday 28 Oct, 10.30am–2.30pm. £35. Ages 6+ Click here to book.


Arty fun with the Little Grand Tour



Bringing art to life in the most magical way join Dandelion favourite The Little Grand Tour this half term. Isabel Lamb and her team of enthusiastic art graduates really engage little ones allowing parents a few hours of peace and calm to enjoy the gallery solo. Choose from Colour & Shape at the Tate Modern (28 Oct) Art Through Time at the National Gallery (24 Oct) or The Sound of Music Tour at the Dulwich Picture Gallery (27 Oct). Birds Life at the Museum of the Home



Birds and Us Head east this half term and join Birder Matthew and animal historian Stephanie Howard-Smith for an immersive talk on how Londoners' connection with birds has changed through time. Meet at the Information Desk 11–11.40am and 2–2.40pm, free but ticketed. Click here to book.


Throughout the rest of the half-term week get crafty in the Learning Pavillion at Spooky Pets, (11am–4pm drop-in) before following the Spot the Animal Trail to find some curious creatures hiding in the Home Galleries.


Family Fun at the Foundling Museum



Themed around their new exhibition Fighting Talk get crafty this half term at the Foundling. Make a ship's lantern, design a flag, come up with your own boat, and create a ships’ figure head. Sessions run 11am–1pm & 2–4pm, 26–29 October, free but ticketed. We love the sound of Mythological Figure Heads and Flying Flags. Click here for all workshops.
