Zimingzhong 凝时聚珍:Clockwork Treasures from China's Forbidden City

Mechanical jewel encrusted marvels await you at the Science Museum this Feb half term!

New show Zimingzhong (meaning self-sounding bell) literally knocked our socks off when we visited last week. All 20 jewel encrusted treasures (some dating back to the 1700s) have been shipped over from The Palace Museum in Beijing. Belovedly collected by past Emperors these timepieces have never been displayed in England before. Some are over one metre tall! Our favourites were the budding lotus flower and the hugely ornate sparkling elephant.
